Jewish Cemetery, Olaszliszka Olaszliszka The town was once a center of Hasidism in Hungary. The grave of the famous Hasidic rabbi, Friedmann Hersele, in the picturesque Jewish cemetery still attracts pilgrims today. Olaszliszka was once a center of Hasidism, thanks to the community’s rabbi, Friedmann Cvi Herschel, who was one of the most renowned miracle-working rabbis of his time. Friedmann Hersele was raised in the home of Mózes Teitelbaum in Sátoraljaújhely. Pilgrims still visit his grave—on the anniversary of his death (14 Av)—at the Jewish cemetery in Olaszliszka.
